Cassper Nyovest breaks down why artiste’s first album is important 61

Cassper Nyovest released his debut album back in 2014 dubbed ‘Tsholofelo’ and to many hip hop connoisseurs, they tend to believe to this day that the album was one of the best rap projects that a South African hip hop artiste has ever put out.

The rapper who is always keen to interact with his fans on social media, especially on Twitter took the time to break down how and why it’s important to any rapper to have a successful debut album.

“Time. Your first album is made or planned in your head for about 10 years. Everything after that is made in a few months,” he explained.

The ‘Baby Girl’ hitmaker explained how making the first album is usually based on a fearless point of view because it’s the first project you are putting out and you don’t have any stress whatsoever or doubting yourself if the album will be successful or not.

“The other thing is fear. The first album is made from a fearless point of view. Everything after that is trying to maintain or not fall off.” he continued.

Cassper Nyovest has since released three other albums since ‘Tsholofelo’ that was released back in 2014 and all of his albums thus far are regarded to be hit projects.

Cassper Nyovest has released ‘Refiloe’, ‘Thuto’, ‘Sweet And Short’ which was his first time releasing a Kwaito inspired album and also the first time a mainstream established rap artiste has ever released a Kwaito-inspired album in South African rap history.

His last album ‘Sweet And Short’ went platinum in a day.

Cassper Nyovest has switched genres throughout his career seeing him working with Diamond Platnumz, Stonebwoy, D’Banj, Davido and never losing his fans and also staying consistent over the year. A fan also noticed this and gave him a massive shout out for always staying true to his fans despite being a part of different genres of music across Africa and beyond.
