Reason talks about how Champagne and Water with Mick Jenkins came to be 51

Reason is just about to drop his album dubbed Azania ahead of much anticipation from his fans and everyone, especially when he released the track list of his Azania project.

Reason took to social media to talk about how Akio Kawahito acted as a plug between himself and the American hip hop recording artiste based in Chicago, who he is signed to Cinematic Music Group, Mick Jenkins when he came to South Africa.

” I remember the day @akio_kawahito called me and told me @mickjenkins had agreed to do some studio with us while he was here. I’m not sure if I expected him to say no, but I somehow didn’t expect him to say yes. I mean… he was here for a show. Not a session.” Reason said in part.

“Long story short, we had a session booked with @hopemasta & @mr_instro, and all he asked from us, was to record a verse for his own work first. The briefing was also very brief. I had the beat already so I pitched the concept and he wrote the verse in about 30 minutes and laced it same time. One-take if I’m not mistaken.” he added proving how enthused he was after Mick Jenkins recorded his verse in one take.

Reason went on ahead to explain the inspiration behind the ‘Champagne and Water’ record which is off his album ‘Azania’, “Champagne & water is about the battle between good & bad. Right & wrong. Being a black man in today, our everyday lives are filled with scenarios that either require champagne… or water. The right or the wrong choice. Look out for this jam. It Sure is a classic.” he added on social media post.

I for one can’t wait for this project to drop already.
