Cassper Nyovest pays tribute to HHP by performing the ‘Harambe’ song 80

The hip hop industry in South Africa was never the same after the legendary rapper, Hip Hop Pantsula shortened to HHP real name Jabulani Tsambo left us back in 24th October 2018.

HHP left a void that could never be filled to this day. May he rest in eternal peace.

Cassper Nyovest is a close friend of the late celebrated rapper who was respected across the entire African continent and around the world decided to pay homage to his mentor and close friend who brought him under his wing through one of his iconic music dubbed ‘Harambe’.

Cassper Nyovest being respectful to HHP in his lifetime and even in death, one time turned down an opportunity to perform South African Music Awards (SAMA25) last year because he would have been limited to how much of a tribute he could share.

“They asked me but they wouldn’t allow me to do it the right way so nah. If i do a Jabba tribute on live tv, it has be the one. That’s my brother. I would have to knock it out for him. Not some half baked stuff.” Cassper Nyovest tweeted.

Cassper Nyovest once said that the last time he saw HHP was at Pop Bottles event.

“He(HHP) kept on saying I love you randomly, while we were talking he would say ‘ja mara ke a go rata Nyovest’ and look me in the eye. But because he was such an awesome person it didn’t seem weird or awkward, he had a lot of moments where you really didn’t figure or understand why he did that. He then asked me to pray before we parted ways and that’s the picture that came out, that’s the last time I saw him and spoke to him.” said Cassper.

At this point in the interview, Cassper’s voice was very shaky and those who had tuned into the show expressed how saddened they were to hear Cassper.

Cassper has taken to social media to pay HHP a major tribute that will never be forgotten anytime soon.

Cassper Nyovest performed HHP’s hit song dubbed ‘Harambe’ that is rather appropriate for these trying times that we are currently going through right now.

Here’s HHP performing the original ‘Harambe’ song with Young VOices South Africa Choir. This performance will forever be memorable in the entire music industry.

Nyovest has shared a cover of the same song with all the honors going to HHP, Cassper Nyovest was among the rappers who were really hit by the news of the untimely death of HHP and it can show even when he’s performing ‘Harambe’.

Cassper Nyovest’s started rapping on the second verse of ‘Harambe’ and the hook of the song, here’s the verse that he kicked off the record with;

I’m not the political type
Not the type to fake an image for the sake of this whole consciousness hype
Never been called a kaffir before (Serious?)
Can’t imagine seeing 10 cops and dogs charging through my front door
Can’t say what teargas smelled like
Can’t even imagine what a rubber bullet on your back felt like
Can’t imagine holding guns in my palms
Can’t imagine ke go bona carrying Hector Peterson in your arms
But it’s because of you that I don’t speak Afrikaans today
I have a chance today, because of you, Joe, I can dance today
Without having to show you my pass
Self-employed because of you I don’t call no one a bass
Because of you Joe I’m a star now
Black man who’s going far now
I’m the type of brother who can drink in any bar now
Because of you Joe I’m educated
Because of you, the black youth of today is emancipated

Because of you Joe I’m educated
Because of you, the black youth of today is emancipated

Below is the lyrics of HHP’s ‘Harambe’

[Intro]
Everybody, Thasman, Jabbaman, Dimitri
Maxhoba, making history

Harambe… he… he… he
Harambe…he… he… he… he…

[Chorus]
(Harambe)
Mfethu ke le nosi ke diga dikgosi
Bossy from the day ke belegwa
Even before ke le (Ha ra mme)
O swaka defeat you like Barker
Break your neck by only using ditlhaka
Spread enough to go (Ngwana mme)
Clinch your fist and write a list of
Everybody you know who’s gotten you pissed off
‘Cause from here we only say (Harambe)
Dirisanang tshidisanang nigga…

[Verse 1]
Yo, I shoot faster than Trinity
I stand taller than Liberty
Even the Hulk bulk as he is, is afraid of me
I’m an enemy, go through any means to get rid of me
Whether you do voo-doo or any means at all to consider me
Just like anybody, don’t you know gore Jabbaman is considered general
‘Cause already Skwatta be the animal
Ain’t nothing I’ve done that hasn’t left you le sa makale
Burning like match sticks, controversial like an exposed match fix
I stand out like clitoris on extreme black chicks
And stuck in here like ice cream when the tongue licks
Intense like cyclone when the mighty handpicks
The propaganda Jabba slender be the game
Hotter than panda gowa depend-a on the day
That shakes the blender, make you tender when you say
That’s why I spend-a, a lot of Rand-a on the blaze
So…

[Chorus]
(Harambe)
Mfethu ke le nosi ke diga dikgosi
Bossy from the day ke belegwa
Even before ke le (Ha ra mme)
O swaka defeat you like Barker
Break your neck by only using ditlhaka
Spread enough to go (Ngwana mme)
Clinch your fist and write a list of
Everybody you know who’s gotten you pissed off
‘Cause from here we only say (Harambe)
Dirisanang tshidisanang nigga…
