The 8th annual South African Hip Hop Awards that was started in 2012 by Ritual Media Group, a company owned by South African hip hop entrepreneur Osmic Menoe alias Ace of Spades saw YoungstaCPT, Flame, Nadia Nakai and Makwa winning big in the annual show.
This year saw some categories reduced indefinitely due to declining number of submissions over the years.
“We have had some made some major changes to the categories and aim to raise the bar even higher, the changes include merging the MVP and Hustler Of The Year Award together to become one, the Best Video award will be awarded to the directors of the respective videos instead of the artists themselves and we have also had to remove out the Kings Of The Province, Best Graffiti Artist and the Best Dance Crew categories due to a declining number of submissions over the years.”the South African Hip Hop Awards released this statement prior to the show.
Rappers that won more than one awards were Flame, YoungstaCPT and Cassper Nyovest with honorary award going to the one and only Falko One with the best mixtape of the year going to Shane Eagle’s ‘Dark Moon Flower’.
The award show that took place last night at Gold Reef City in Johannesburg was filled with sizzling performance from numerous artiste with Nadia Nakai stealing the show with her performance.
