Unathi Nkayi’s contract with Kaya FM has been indefinitely terminated 96

Unathi Nkayi who has been working in radio for over 10 years has been relieved of her duties by Kaya 959 in an expedited move.

Kaya FM released an official statement citing that they sought to terminate her contract prematurely because of an intolerable relationship between the two parties that hindered a working relationship going forward.

Nkayi has been off the radio for three long years after she left Metro FM back in 2017. She thereafter joined Kaya 959 in March of 2021 as she took over from Bridget Masinga.

Unathi Nkayi used to host the midday hit show Joy show on weekdays from 12pm to 3pm.

Kaya 959 doesn’t have intentions of disclosing whatever happened between them and Unathi Nkayi noting that they’re already working on finding a replacement for the vacancy that Unathi has left behind.

“Kaya 959 confirm the contract of presenter Ms. Unathi Nkayi has been terminated, effective immediately.

Ms. Nkayi’s contract has ended prematurely due to certain conduct that rendered the relationship intolerable going forward. Kaya 959 can confirm that certain incidents had occurred, which resulted in the breakdown of the trust relationship between the two parties. The business can further confirm that due process was followed and the decision was therefore made to part ways with Ms. Kayi.

The station would prefer not to be drawn into a debate around the details of what transpired in the interest of both parties. Safe to state that Ms. Nkayi’s version of events have been carefully considered and unfortunately found wanting.

Ms. Nkayi hosted the Midday Joy show, weekdays 12 – 3pm. A replacement presenter is to be announced in due course,” the official statement released by Kaya 959 read in its entirety.
