Legendary musician Yvonne Chaka Chaka deported from Uganda 82

Uganda authorities on Tuesday 31,2019 deported the legendary musician, Yvonne Chaka Chaka for lack of a work visa in Uganda since she went to perform in the country.

Yvonne Chaka Chaka was slated to perform at the “Enkuka Yomwaka” show taking place at Mengo palace in Kampala, she was reportedly detained at Pearl of Africa Hotel in Nakasero where she allegedly spent the night.

Police spokesperson of Uganda, Mr. Fred Enanga, confirmed Yvonne Chaka Chaka’s deportation saying she only had an ordinary visa.

“This is to inform the public that a security task team, in close coordination with immigration officials, this afternoon escorted Ms Mhinga Yvonne, popularly known as Chaka Chaka, to Entebbe International Airport, where she boarded her next immediate flight to South Africa, via Kigali,” he said in part.

The police spokesperson said immigration officials canceled Chaka Chaka’s ordinary visa after realizing she traveled to perform at New Year events.

“She was advised, together with her promoters, to apply for a work visa and avoid the pretense of being an ordinary visitor,” Mr. Fred Enanga continued.

“The ordinary visa cannot enable her to perform in any income-generating activity within the country. This has been done by immigration officials and the security team to help maintain the integrity of our immigration rules,” he added.

It is speculated that the legendary musician was deported from Uganda for publicly supporting Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi popularly known as Bobi Wine during her recent visit to Uganda where she referred to him as the new Mandela during her performance at Serena Hotel in Kampala.

Bobi Wine who was not happy at all by the deportation of the legendary international music icon took to Twitter to make his stand known saying that friends who supports the struggle are on the receiving end of the State’s wrath.

“Our friends from abroad have attracted the wrath of the state for openly supporting our struggle for freedom. Today international icon @YvonneChakaX2 was deported from Uganda. Whatever reasons the security agencies give, we all know the regime is afraid of her SONGS OF FREEDOM!” the Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi popularly known as Bobi Wine tweeted.

Yvonne Chaka Chaka has promised to go back to Uganda someday and perform because Africa is her motherland.

I can assure u.i will come back to Uganda and perform. This is my motherland” Yvonne Chaka Chaka tweeted.
