legendary South African musician Hugh Masekela dies aged 78 51

Father of South African Jazz, Mr Hugh Ramopolo Masekela has passed away. The musician had been battling prostate cancer since 2008.

May his soul Rest In Peace.

Mr Masekela was an Ubuntu Awards winner in 2015’s “Ubuntu Arts & Culture Award (Veteran)” category. Hugh Masekela was 14 when he started playing the trumpet. The 78-year-old legend has made Jazz beautiful. Thank you and RIP Bra Hugh Masekela.

Bra Hugh, Hugh Masekela passed on due to prostate cancer. His classic, Grazing In The Grass topped the Billboard Hot 100. He was the first African male Grammy nominee (1968). He won the Lifetime Achievement Award at the CHOMVA, Ghana Music Awards, Jazz FM Awards and MAMAs.
